Dr. Cuevas @ the 4th Energy Future Conference

HyCARE researcher Fermin Cuevas has participated as academic speakers to the 4th Energy Future Conference organized by the Australian UNSW Energy Institute. The conference brought together scientists, engineers, academia, investors, industry, and policymakers to discuss the Emerging technologies across hydrogen value chain from hydrogen production and conversion, storage, distribution, safety and standards, applications, as well as unseen challenges associated with establishing the Hydrogen economy including environmental issues, water supply as well as social acceptance.

During the Conference, Cuevas presented his work related to the alloy design, tuning to thermodynamic operation conditions, activation and kinetic issues, as well as to cycling stability, resistance to impurities and limited use of raw critical materials.

Dr. Dematteis is awarded as best presentation on Advanced Materials for Energy Storage @ New Times Conference

Erika Michela Dematteis has been awarded of the “Menzione d’onore” at the New times Conference. Her presentation of “TiFe-substituted intermetallic for large-scale stationary hydrogen storage” was awarded as best communication in the session on Advance Materials for Energy Storage. @HyCARE, Erika and our female researchers rock!

HyCARE is contributing to create the national hub for hydrogen in Italy

The Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” reports the HyCARE project as a key initiative triggering to the new partnerships on hydrogen research in Turin. Building up on the experience and competences gained in Hycare, the research groups of the University of Turin joined the Politecnico of Turin in a formal partnership on hydrogen research. The goal of the partnership is to boost R&D excellence and advance application of hydrogen technologies in the Turin and Piedmont territory. The future ambition of the partnership is to give rise to the National Research Hub on Hydrogen.

Dr. De Matteis presents her results on TiFe- substituted intermetallic at New Times Conference

HyCARE’s researcher Erika De Matteis presented her research on “TiFe- substituted intermetallic for large-scale stationary hydrogen storage at the international conference “New Times – New Trends in Materials Science and Engineering 1st International Virtual Conference“. This virtual meeting aimed at providing a forum on new trends on materials science and engineering from the Italian community and beyond. The scope was to gather engineers, physicists, chemists and materials scientists working on innovative materials and their applications.

HyCARE at 5th Hydrogen Technologies Congress

Dr. De Matteis has presented her HyCARE’s research activities on the optimal alloy composition for the HyCARE system. Her presentation on “Fundamental hydrogen storage properties of TiFe-alloy with partial substitution of Fe by Ti and Mn” provided an overview of the main results of the experimental activities conducted in collaboration with CNRS and HEREON.

Webinar Master Course Autonoma University Madrid

Fermin Cuevas (CNRS) hold a webinar on the HyCARE research activity related to TiFe intermetallics for large-scale stationary hydrogen storage. The webinar involved 15 students of the Master de Energías y Combustibles para el Futuro, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

The webinar presented the HyCARE project and described the tailoring and optimization of the allow composition for hydrogen storage performed by CNRS. It explained the R&D activities which inlude alloy design, tuning to thermodynamic operational conditions, activation and kinetic issues, as well as cycling stability, resistance to impurities and limited use of raw critical materials.

Substitutional effects in TiFe for hydrogen storage: a comprehensive review

HyCARE’s second publication has been officially released on the Journal “Materials Advaces”. This work aims to provide a comprehensive review of publications involving chemical substitution in TiFe-based compounds for guiding compound design and materials selection in current and future hydrogen storage applications.

The paper is the result of almost 2-year work, collecting, reading and reviewing literature on TiFe and its elemental substitutions. Congratulations to our research Erika De Matteis for her excellent and passionate work.

Stocker l’hydrogène dans des matériauz: du laboratoire à l’application

Fermin Cuevas, Research Director of CNRS, has presented the HyCARE project in the launch event of the French Research network on hydrogen research. Cuevas’ presentation focused on the HyCARE’s journey: from laboratory research on the properties of alloys, through characterization and production of metal hydrides and PCM in collaboration with European laboratories and SMEs, to final application for hydrogen storage by ENGIE in Paris.
